Q. Can you share an experience in which you had to make a tough decision as a leader, and how you approached it?
A. Have done your research on what decision you are going to make? Have the facts and then make the decision based on those. You might not always make the right one, but it's more important you make the decision.
Q. Is there anything you can recommend to women who need to build a network, but who are introverts and find it very difficult to essentially 'cold call' people at events, etc?
A. You have to identify what you want from the network event and focus on that. Introduce yourself with your full name and the company you work for. Networking is a two-way engagement you have to give something and they have to give something back.
Q. How can I drive change on a board and get my voice heard?
A. It sounds like you are not been listened to. I would raise it directly to the chairperson and start by saying “ I feel ....
A. It's important not to call it out in the room, or in front of an audience. For example “ I feel that when someone said …. I felt it was dismissive…..Put it back on the group or person.
Q. Who is your favourite writer on women's leadership?
A. Mary Robinson, I would highly recommend her books.
Q. How do you balance life and work?
A. To me, it's just life, and it's up to me to balance the total package. I prioritise my health first and foremost.
