The main role of the Product Owner is to ensure that the business requirements for the project are met and that the project is completed to the highest standard.
There are a number of specific duties that the Product Owner has:
1. Ranks the product features so that the development team can comprehend them
2. Attends sprint planning meetings, which are vital for achieving successful agile implementation
3. Informs the team about the priorities and requirements of the project
4. Makes the decision on a deadline for the project
5. Determines the release date and contents
6. Define epics/user stories to the Scrum team
7. Prioritizes or grooms the user stories with a few team members and spends some quality time with them before the beginning of the project

Do I Need to Attend the PSM Scrum Master Course Before Attending the Product Owner Course?
While there is no requirement to attend a PSM Scrum Master course before attending our PSPO Product Owner course, you will be expected to have an understanding of the Scrum framework and how the process works. You will need to understand the different events and values which makeup Scrum and also how the Product Owner interacts with the other roles of the Scrum team.
Some people will have a good grounding in Scrum and will make the decision to dive right in and attend the PSPO Product Owner course and complete the assessment. Others will want to enhance or gain a fundamental understanding of the Scrum process & events and will therefore choose to attend the PSM Scrum Master course before going on to attend the Product Owner course. The decision is completely yours and is based on your own knowledge of Scrum.
