In this post, we’ll explain everything you need to know about how to go about completing the PSPO Product Owner Assessment and also, how to ensure you pass first time.
How can I get the Product Owner certification?
The first step to gaining your PSPO Certification is to attend an exam preparation course. While attending a course is not a mandatory requirement, we would highly recommend attending as it will help to cement your existing knowledge of the role while helping you to identify the most common pitfalls between true Scrum and how Scrum can be used in a hybrid environment.
The PSPO Product Owner assessment consists of an 80 question, hour-long exam made up of multiple-choice, multiple-answer and true/ false questions and you must achieve at least 85% to pass. 94.7% of DCM learners pass the exam the first time.
How should I take the exam?
Once you have attended our PSPO Product Owner Exam Preparation course, you will receive a learner pack filled with additional resources to help you prepare for the exam. This includes a recommended reading list, as well as lots of sample exam questions.
We would also recommend taking some mock exams as part of your preparation before taking the exam. Not only do these mock exams allow you to become comfortable with the format, but they will also help you to identify any topics or themes that you might need to study further. Scrum.org offers Open Assessments which will allow you to practice before committing to purchasing your exam password.
When should I take the PSPO Exam?
When to take the exam really depends on your own experience and how prepared you feel. We want you to be as prepared as possible before attempting the exam, giving yourself the best chance of passing the first time! While some people attempt and pass the exam within hours of completing the course, we normally recommend people take between 2 to 3 weeks before they attempt the exam.
There is a lot of information covered over the 2 days and you will also leave with plenty of reading, sample exam questions/answers to help you to fully prepare.
Do I need to renew my PSPO certification?
One of the most important roles within a Scrum team is the Product Owner, ensuring that the team stays focused on delivering consistent quality & real-world value and that all of the requirements of the business are met.
As such, we know that Product Owners don’t have time to complete CPD or renew certifications for the work they do every day. Scrum.org also understands this and as such, once you have demonstrated your knowledge and skills by completing the PSPO Assessment, you have the certification for life with no need to renew it. We do, however, recommend that you keep up to date with industry best practice.
Is the PSPO certification fee included in the course fee?
The course fee of €495 covers not only the two days of in-depth training but also all of the course & support materials that will help you to fully prepare for the exam, as well as lunch and parking during the course.
The exam fee of $200 is payable directly to Scrum.org. This gives our learners the benefit of choosing when they feel most ready to complete the assessment, in their own time and at their own pace.
