Do I Need To Undertake An Exam During The Course?
While there is no exam which you must complete in order to gain the QQI Level 6 Award in Project Management, there are a couple of assessments which you must complete; a 3,000 word essay and a 5,000 word Portfolio of Work.
However, there is no need to be worried about the assessments as our trainer will ensure you are fully prepared to complete the assessments when you leave the course and they are also on hand to answer any questions you may have throughout the submission process.
What Are The Assessments?
Once you have attended the four day QQI Project Management course, you must submit two assessments to be graded by DCM and then externally verified by QQI; a 5000 word Portfolio of Work and a 3000 word essay.
Assessment 1: Portfolio of Work
The first assessment you must complete is a Portfolio of Work. This essay-style assessment consists of a collection of project components required to effectively manage a project of your choice through the stages of Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Controlling and Closure. This will demonstrate your understanding and application of the globally accepted PMI ® Project Management framework for your selected project.
The Portfolio of Work counts for 70% of your final grade and must be at least 5,000 words. However if you find this daunting, be rest-assured that the course is designed to incorporate much of the portfolio content and you will find yourself fully prepared to complete the project, which is due for submission 6 weeks after the course ends.
Assessment 2: Assignment
The second assessment consists of a 3,000 word essay which asks you to demonstrate that you understand the principles and theories of using best practice project management frameworks to effectively manage a project. It is worth 30% of your final mark.
The essay question may cause you to panic, as you may feel out of practice or not have any experience in answering essay questions. However, the essay is very straightforward and if you conduct a bit of your own research, it shouldn’t prove too difficult.
You will be guided by the DCM Learning trainer every step of the way and will ensure everyone is fully aware of what is required to complete the assessments when you leave the training.
Aside from this DCM Learning trainers are always on hand to provide additional support and guidance if needed.
