Extension Requests
If you feel you cannot meet the required deadline for assessment submission, you may request an extension.
All extension requests must be recorded using our Extension Request Form. Completed forms should clearly describe the circumstances under which the learner is requesting an extension, along with supporting documentation for processing.
The decision to allow an extension request will be approved by the QA Officer, who will consider any extenuating circumstances and may give compassionate consideration to the learner such as:

a physical injury or emotional trauma during a period four to six weeks previously

a physical disability or chronic or disabling condition such as epilepsy, glandular fever, or other incapacitating illness of the learner

recent bereavement of close family member or friend
-
severe accident
-
domestic crisis
-
terminal illness of a close family member
-
other extenuating circumstances
If you miss your assessment deadline but have not requested an extension, the QA Officer may consider any extenuating circumstances and give compassionate consideration depending on the evidence provided by the learner.
Step 1. Welcome Message
When you visit the extension requests form you will be greeted with the following message. Simply click the start button to begin.
Step 2. Name
Step 3. Email Address
We need your email address for future correspondence relating to the extension request.
Step 4. Course Details
You will now need to select the QQI course that you are currently enrolled on.
Step 5. Original Submission Date
You will need to add the original submission date that was provided to you when you originally enrolled on the course. Please type this date into the field below in DD-MM-YYYY format.
Please Note: You can find this date on the enrolment email that was sent to you when you registered for the course. Unless this date is added correctly we cannot complete the extension request.
Step 6. Three Extension Request Options
You will now be presented with three options. They are as follows:

2 Week Extension - All learners are entitled to a single 2-week extension on their original submission date. If this is your first extension you can request an automatic 2-week extension

4 Week Extension - if you would like to extend your submission date by four weeks you will need to provide independent written evidence to support your request. The evidence should be on headed paper and clearly identify the source.

Course Deferment - if you need more than four additional weeks to complete your course and submit your assignments we can defer your place on the course. Once you are ready to re-commence your course we can arrange a new submission date for you. Please Note - there is an administration fee of €90 for course deferment which is payable before you recommence the course.
Step 6a. Reason for 4 Week Extension (Four Week Extension Only)
To complete the four-week extension request you need to select from the following options.
Step 6b. Supporting Documentation (Four Week Extension Only)
As outlined above, if you would like to extend your submission date by four weeks you will need to provide independent written evidence to support your request. The evidence should be on headed paper and clearly identify the source.
Step 7. Additional Details
You will need to provide additional details on why you have requested an extension/deferral.
Step 8. Course Deferment
If you have chosen Course Deferment you will be asked to confirm that you have read and accepted the conditions of this choice. This choice allows you to defer your place on the course. Once you are ready to re-commence the course you can contact us and we will re-enrol you and agree on a new submission date for your assignments.
Please note - there is an administration fee of €90 for course deferment which is payable before you recommence the course.
Step 10 Confirmation
Once you have completed the form you will see a confirmation message on the screen. You will also receive a confirmation email.
