Why did you choose to do this course?
I was temporarily laid off work and wanted to further my education at a time of uncertainty. I knew I wouldn't regret investing in myself and it would keep me busy and excited for the future.
Why choose DCM?
I found DCM Learning online and requested a brochure. I was completely new to online learning but I was looking for an affordable, short term learning opportunity. The Learning Services staff, were really helpful in explaining how the program would be delivered so I chose the Train the Trainer course as it was so flexible and applicable to many fields.
How did you find the course?
The course tutor was very knowledgeable and so helpful. He answered any questions I had through email and hosted a live Q&A to help prepare for the assignments. The materials were really well laid out and the course overall was really enjoyable. I was back working full time but managed to complete the modules in the evenings and at weekends- something I didn't think I'd have time for before! The material was engaging and relevant for my work. The tutor managed to create a really effective virtual classroom experience. The quality of the learning materials were excellent and easy to use.
Any advice you would give to new students?
I would recommend reading through the assessment brief carefully, use the tips provided and do so early in the programme so you stay focused. Use all the materials provided, the course workbook and learner record log were really useful when it came to completing assignments. Take time to invest in yourself, even if you don't think you have the time, it really is quite manageable if you do it little by little.
Since completing the course, what have you done or how has your career progressed?
I was delighted to achieve a distinction and got my QQI Level 6 certificate in the post shortly afterwards. I'm working towards a promotion at work now and have put some of the skills I learned into practice. I'm looking forward to furthering my education and expanding my skills with another DCM learning course this year.
