Why did you choose to do this course?
I was applying for a position as a Researcher with the Policing Authority and one of the competencies was 'Leadership and Project Management'.
Why choose DCM?
It was recommended by the Careers Office in UCD.
How did you find the course?
As I was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the School of Geography in UCD I was offered a position on the course as it was being run in conjunction with the UCD Careers Office.
Any advice you would give to new students?
Project Management is more than just managing a project. This course teaches you how to lead your team, manage your own expectations and to keep an open mind. Thus, I would advise a new learner to take part in this course because it offers learning beyond theoretical Project Management but teaches you the skills required to be a successful Project Manager.
Since completing the course, what have you done or how has your career progressed?
I was successful with my application for the Policing Authority and currently work there as a researcher. Although, I have not completed any more courses yet I have been able to implement all the skills I learned. This has made my transition into a new position a lot easier.
