Does the QQI Train The Trainer certification qualify me to teach?
From experience, we find that completing a Train the Trainer course is a great jumping-off point for beginning your training career. It will give you all the knowledge and skills to effectively design and deliver your training courses, as well as ensuring that you feel confident in your ability.
The level 6 qualification is typically the minimum needed to work on behalf of the ETBs or VECs.
There are a number of different avenues you can take on completion of a Train the Trainer course, however, you must hold the relevant qualifications in what you wish to teach.
You can work as a freelance trainer, designing and delivering your own training courses. You can also register with professional training providers to deliver courses on their behalf.
We are fully accredited to ensure we provide the highest possible standards in learning.
Does this certification allow me to register with the Teaching Council?
While the QQI Training Delivery & Evaluation certification used to be the minimum requirement to deliver training on behalf of the Teaching Council, this has recently changed.
Minimum entry requirements for programmes of initial teacher education are set by the Minister for Education and Skills, in consultation with the Teaching Council. You will find more specific information associated with different levels of teaching here.
Will I be able to issue certificates to my learners?
After the course, you will have the skills and qualifications to design, deliver training and issue certificates of completion.
Depending on your area of expertise, you can gain additional accreditations such as becoming accredited to deliver Safe Pass courses or becoming an ITEC/ CIBTAC accredited training centre.
However, if you wish to issue QQI certificates you would have to be an accredited provider, but bear in mind this can be a costly and extensive process.
In order for your learners to obtain a QQI certificate, certain conditions must be met:
- Provider’s programme must be validated by QQI
- Provider must assess learners in a fair and consistent way
- Learners must achieve a pass/successful grade or higher in their assessments
All certificates issued by QQI list awards on the NFQ (National Framework of Qualifications). This ensures the certificate is nationally and internationally recognised and has many potential uses; for example, for further / higher education or employment in Ireland or abroad.
