If you are an Early Childhood Care & Education provider and you want to forge a new career path, becoming an Early Childhood Care & Education trainer might be an avenue for you to explore.
Professional competent trainers will have a direct influence on supporting quality practice and ensuring children are valued as competent learners and citizens with rights.
The first step to becoming an ECCE trainer is to complete a relevant training qualification, such as our QQI Level 6 Train the Trainer award. This course will give you all the knowledge and skills to effectively design and deliver your training courses, as well as ensuring that you feel confident in your ability.
The training covers the nature of training, improving presentations and training skills, the trainer’s role, individual learning styles and best practice methods for evaluating training sessions.
Once you have successfully completed the course and the assessments, you will be able to take the next steps towards your goal.
An avenue to explore is to become a registered trainer with Early Childhood Ireland. They offer a comprehensive range of childcare training and education programmes, catering for a diverse range of learners and aiming to equip them with the core skills and knowledge relevant to the early childhood sector.
In order to join the register of trainers with Early Childhood Ireland, you must meet the following criteria:
1. You must have a relevant qualification in the ECCE industry
2. You must possess an accredited training qualification
3. You must have experience of working in the sector
4. You must have experience delivering a training course
You can also deliver courses to industry peers on behalf of the Regional Childcare Committees and organisations like Barnardos. There are a number of ETBs ( Education & Training Boards) around the country who also offer QQI Level 5 and Level 6 courses in Early Childhood Education and with your industry qualifications, as well as your QQI Level 6 qualification, you will be able to deliver courses in this area too.
